With the signing of Randy Winn, the Yankees have chosen to part ways with Johnny Damon. It was a great four years and hopefully the Yankees do not regret later down the road. Brian Cashman stuck to his $200M budget and Damon would have exceeded that by 3-4M.
Honestly, I think Cashman just did not want to deal with his agent Scott Boras. Damon came off a great year in 2009 and was tremendous in the World Series. With his swing taylor made for Yankee Stadium, Damon might regret not coming back to the Yankees. At the end, it was probably pride that prevented both sides from coming together.
